Warm weather is here!!

So we have been totally taking advantage of the warm weather! For the past week and a half we have been going on walks in the evening. Caden still loves it, he just sits back in a chilled position and watches everything around him. It's funny, whenever we stop for a second he sits up and looks back like what's the hold up? Why did we stop? Then once we get going again he sits back again and gets comfy. He also likes walking by himself too, although he doesn't always want to go the way we want to go. He thinks his way is better. : )
 We also have been cleaning up the backyard, picking up all of the leaves and trash that has blown in our yard since winter. I tell you, it's a nice feeling getting everything cleaned up, it makes me feel happy. It's like a fresh start to summer. It also gives us a chance to brainstorm ideas of ways to improve our yard and give us the nice curb appeal. The landscaped area in our backyard is going to get attacked this summer for sure. The bushes died over the winter, so they'll go and so we are on a hunt to replace them. I'm not sure if I want to put plain ole bushes in or rose/flower bushes. We are planning on planting a bunch of flowers that will be perennials, so we won't always have to plant some each spring. 
We hand tilled the garden Sunday, and wow did that take some muscle! We borrowed my sister's "Claw" which worked out much better than using the shovel & hoe that we had to use last year. Our dirt is so hard, but once it gets worked up a bit it looks nice. We need to add some more dirt and then we'll till it again, then a month or so we'll start planting our garden! Yay for Spring! Summer your just around the corner, I can't wait for you to come!!

Cookies and a Cooling rack

So who ever invented the cooling rack is amazing! I have wanted one for a very long time and when Jacob's Cousin Matt & his wife Kristy were in town, they surprised us with one. Yay! I have made quite a few batches of cookies since then and I love how fast they cool on the racks. It definetly beats laying them out on wax paper. I got three of them and they stack on top of each other so it's great!

These are Oatmeal Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip cookies! They are Sooo..... good! I actually had to give some away because they were so good and I knew that I would eat them all if they stayed. So they went to a few lucky friends!! I can't wait to use the rack for my scones! Thanks Matt & Kristy!! Next time you come visit there will be some yummy treats waiting for you!

Handsome little boy!

What a handsome little boy!! He has grown up so fast, too fast! I love seeing all the new things and tricks that he's learning to do. He is a very curious and adventurous little boy.

This is one of his new things that he does. He'll take his bowl of kitchen tools off the stand so he can sit on it. He likes to peek out the window and look for the neighbors dogs. Oh, how he loves the neighbors dogs!

Spring and New Toys

I know it's been forever since I've posted something, I just haven't gotten around to putting new pictures on the computer. I'll admit, I was also slacking a bit too, but hey, Caden comes first and we were just having too much fun playing with his new Mega Bloks wagon that we found at a garage sale. As you can see he loves playing with them!!

We have also been loving the warm weather!  It's officially Spring! We have some Tulips and Daffodils popping up both in the front and backyard. I can't wait to see them bloom! I planted some old bulbs that I got from my mother in law this past fall. When I say old, I mean old, like multiple years old. But to a wonderful surprise some of them have popped up to go along with the other one's I have.

 

Caden and I have been spending most of the days outside when we can, going on walks or running around the yard. He loves the outdoors and gets pretty sad when it's time to come inside. Who can blame him though, poor guy has been cooped up inside all winter long. This past week we hung out our new bird feeders, no luck yet on getting birds, but sooner or later we'll get some. Hopefully!

Caden likes to go check them out. We are still learning that the food is only for the birds. I caught him with a handful of birdseed about to go in his mouth. Hey, he's curious maybe it looked good, I mean the birds like it right?

Going on a walk

So we finally were able to get out and go for a walk Thursday and Friday. The sunshine was so nice and warm, it was perfect and long over due! Caden loved getting out and walking around outside. It was the first time that he was able to go outside for good while. He had smiles the whole time we were out. The neighbors dogs were out in the backyard barking which Caden thought was funny. He squealed everytime he heard them, he also barked back a them which was pretty darn cute!

  

He walked holding my hand for a little bit and then he wanted to walk by himself. He is such a big boy!

  

On our way back to the house, he was kind of marching his legs. It was too funny! The other picture we were on our deck in the backyard, he had just landed in a small puddle so his pants got a little wet. We are loving this warm weather. It is so nice to be able to get outside and play. I can't wait till it's warm everyday! This summer is going to be so much fun.
