1st Trip to the Zoo

To celebrate our anniversary, we decided to take Caden too the Zoo. It was so much fun! We haven't been to the zoo in a such a long time that it was exciting to see all of the old and new animals that they had. Going through it brought so many memories back of when I was a child. I can't wait to create those fond memories for Caden. We are off to great start! Caden loved the zoo! He was kicking his feet and pointing at all the animals jibber jabbering at them.
This spider web was so cool. Caden wasn't too interested in climbing all over it, but give it a year and I know he'll like it. But when daddy went with him it was more intrigued with it. There were little areas all along the way of things that the children could sit on or play with. I love how interactive the zoo is, what a great learning experience for them.
Caden was checking out the small monkeys that were through the glass. They weren't doing too much since it was right about their naptime. This lion cart has been at the zoo since I was little, you can feed it paper. He says a little jingle which is really cute. He goes " Roar, oh don't be afraid, I only eat paper. Paper, paper, paper, I love paper." Caden was feeding him a tissue, he giggled when it sucked the tissue up out of his hands. He really liked the lion, especially the nose. I can't wait to take our next trip too the zoo, the butterfly pavillion should be open by then, as well as maybe the penguins. Maybe we'll get to the Omaha zoo this year too.

Planting

I'm getting ready to start planting some of my garden this week, I can't wait to get everything in! But I can only do onions so far, the rest will have to wait for a bit.  I have a great helper by my side who sure loves to dig in the dirt, so it should be fun.
Our garden is going to be a lot like last year, but hopefully our peppers will make it this time. We are going to plant onions, green peppers, jalepeno's, tomatoes, carrots and cucumbers. I also have some strawberries, chives and cilantro growing in some pots. So this years garden should be great!
This year I am going to try my best and stay on top of pulling weeds and grass, last year I just kind of gave up, because it was so overwhelming and it seemed like everyday there was new grass and clover popping up everywhere. But not this year, Caden is older and he can walk everywhere so I will actually be able to be outside longer and have a helper, well at least someone to keep me company. : )

Ah... the love of spaghetti!

Here is proof of the love that Caden has for his spaghetti!
Oh yes, we ate this at lunch time and he had an orange face the rest of the day. His hands were also stained. But hey, it was delicious!! Oh my little pasta boy!

Easter Pictures!

On our Easter egg hunt at home, Caden loved to pick up and dump out the eggs.
Caden with his cousins and Easter sack.
On the hunt with Daddy, he had fun picking up eggs. After we were done we went inside and opened our Easter baskets.

Easter!

We had such a great Easter this year. We got up and had homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast and then went to church. What a great service it was! Caden had a blast in his Sunday school class as usual, when we walked in to get him he was playing with a tractor and farm animals that made sounds. Of course, anything that makes noises or sings he loves. After church, Caden took a nap and I put our lunch in the oven. This year was out of the norm. We usually have ham for our meal but, we didn't feel like driving down to the Messick acreage to get one. (Do you like how I said Acreage and not farm or ranch Brenda & Jacob? =)  So we had southwestern peppercorn pork loin. It smelled soo..... good, and tasted pretty good too. We ate that along with the traditional cheesy hashbrown casserole, and some other side dishes. Then in the afternoon we went over my parents house and had a fun little Easter egg hunt. Caden picked up 3 eggs and decided he was done. He had more fun shaking the eggs he had and dumping them out of his basket over and over. He loved playing outside and seeing his cousins. I'll post pictures later. It was fun seeing everyone together and watching the kids go after the eggs. To end the night Jacob and I went outside and played catch a bit and watched the Redsox vs.Yankee game. And of course the Redsox prevailed and beat the Yankees!  It was a good game to watch.
